Sri Lanka - Bird Watchers' Paradise
Sri Lanka is an extremely beautiful country and has been well-recognized birdwatcher’s paradise for many years, where birds are everywhere, in woods, hills, and along the seashore.

There are special places that harbor a wealth of bird life such as national parks, sanctuaries, manmade reservoirs, riverbanks, lagoons and rain forests.

The main birding areas are in the south and central portions of the countyside, which is quite scenic with rice paddies, tea plantations and numerous Buddist and Hindu Temples.

You can enjoy the temples of Kandy and Dumbulla as well as the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa.
The bird season runs roughly from late October to April and in additions to the sheer concentration of bird life, between August and April there is a regular influx of about 100 migrants seeking comfort from the harsh northern winters.
